My name is Amanda Welch, I always find it hard to describe myself eloquently enough to sound good! Yet that is part of my process and lack of self confidence that I hope to build from creating this site. I do know the order in which my life should be prioritized: God, husband, kids, ministry, work… but I must admit I am a complete failure some days at keeping my priorities in check! Which is why I chose “The Lesser Me” as my name. I need to become less, so that He can become more. (John 3:30) I want this blog to be authentic, to be real, blemishes and all. For in my weakness He is made strong! I have come to realize that transparency is very important in ministry and life in general. Am I perfect? Absolutely not! Do I sin? Of course! Every single day! I am learning the most important things to focus on are God, His Word, and what kind of fruit I am yielding.
My husband Jon, is a pastor as Leesburg Christian Church in Cynthiana, KY. We are each other’s biggest fan! He always encourages me to grow deeper in the Word, to take on challenges that I may cower to, and to share the talent God gave me with all of you! God has given me a vision over the past few years, and it has become clear to me what I need to do for the Lord in my lifetime. God plants a seed and when I water it with the Word, guess what? It grows! So, my goal is to bless every reader with a bit if the Word each time I blog. I hope to have a piece of artwork that will coincide with the main theme of each blog with a scripture, because my hope is to plant the Word of God in your home, and close to your heart, as a reminder for you to see each day. I will also have artwork available to purchase in The Shop, but I truly hope God will bless you and everyone else who reads my blogs.
Did I mention I have two of the most beautiful girls in the whole world to call my daughters? Naya is now 14, and Nora Jean is 8, and we have the best time together! They are my little disciples, and although some days we get distracted with life, I pray my actions and words will be a good example for them to follow. I have been blessed to stay home with them for 8 years, and started homeschooling again when COVID-19 hit. Last year, I was blessed to teach 40 homeschoolers The Basics of Art each Tuesday at our local church co-op. I volunteer as a group leader for our youth group and just love pouring into our future generations!
You can find me at the Ark Encounter in my hometown, Williamstown, KY sometimes painting and drawing live with my good friend and talented artist Jon Taylor with Creator’s Brush, on Deck 2! Life is always on the move, and I wouldn’t trade it for anything! God is so good! Thank you so much for taking the time to read my thoughts. I hope you enjoy, and feel free to leave me a comment, or follow me on Facebook and Instagram! Have a blessed day!
